ECL expands services to London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
We are delighted to announce that ECL has been awarded a four-year reablement at home contract for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham following a successful 12-month pilot.
The CQC registered service will run seven days a week from 7am to 10pm. Working closely with local hospitals to get people home safely and provide therapy and reablement support to help them to regain their independence sooner.
We are delighted to have the opportunity to provide reablement services to the people of Barking and Dagenham for the next four years. We really connected with the council’s vision to provide access to therapy-led reablement to local residents and can’t wait to get started. Our joint ambition and hope is that the adults we support can live independently again.
Reablement is a strengths-based, person-centred approach, supporting an individual to regain skills, or gain new / alternative skills and confidence to enable them to remain living independently or with minimal support in their own home.
Cllr Maureen Worby, Cabinet Member for Adults Social Care and Health Integration for Barking and Dagenham said: “I am looking forward to working with ECL to help us deliver our priority to support some of our most vulnerable residents, enabling them to live independently outside of the care system.
“Through this new partnership we can provide residents with a therapy-based reablement service that helps them recover, be happy and able to self-care for as long as they can, at home in their neighbourhood. My ambition is that we focus on more of a preventative approach, offering support to people before they end up in hospital.”
The ECL reablement team consists of experienced trusted assessors, therapy and community care assistants, and clinical practitioners including physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
The team works with people to create a care plan that sets personal independence goals to work towards during the time they are receiving care at home. Collaborating with families, other healthcare professionals and community services to ensure that each individual achieves their desired outcomes.
Care packages can on occasion last for up to six weeks but most people regain the ability to look after themselves in two to three weeks. The team continually review and assess the support people need to help them to get better. If they still need some support at the end of their package, ECL will work with the local authority to source on-going care.
