Rebecca joined ECL from a domiciliary care company in Essex over ten years ago, having been encouraged to apply by an existing member of staff – her mum. Initially employed as a Community Care Assistant (CCA), Rebecca has gone on to win several promotions and has carved out a very successful career in care.

With the support of her managers, she was able to progress from CCA to Trusted Assessor with the Mid-Essex Regulated service, and from there was given the opportunity to lead a team embarking on a supported living pilot scheme. Last year, Rebecca was seconded to ECL’s Day Opportunities provision where she took on her current role of Learning Disabilities Service Manager.

Talking about her journey to date, Rebecca says, “I’ve worked with ECL for 11 years and in that time I’ve seen the business achieve remarkable things. What’s great is that I’ve been given all the tools I need to do the same. I’ve gained a number of formal qualifications and learnt a host of transferable skills which I’ve carried with me into each new role. Management have always supported my professional development and I’ve loved having the chance to work in all areas of the business.”

No matter her job title, Rebecca says that her primary driver has always been helping customers to realise their goals. “The best thing about working with ECL is seeing customers thriving, gaining confidence, and enjoying themselves. Helping them to maintain their independence and reach their own personal targets motivates me to do what I do. It’s such a rewarding place to work and I truly love my job – how many people can say that?”
