ECL Partner with Everyman Cinema to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Essex Cares Limited (ECL) in conjunction with Everyman Cinema Chelmsford earlier this week celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The event is celebrated worldwide and aims to empower people with disabilities.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald was the film chosen by more than 50 ECL customers who attended the viewing.
ECL is the leading provider of support for adults with learning disabilities in Essex. Karen Hales, Area Business Manager of ECL, said the day was about finding celebration in the everyday activities of life.
Our customers just want to enjoy life’s pleasures without their disabilities holding them back. Lack of access and understanding by some businesses prohibits this from time to time and we were so pleased that Everyman was able to accommodate their varying needs.
The screening was tailored for customers with disabilities and included dimmed lighting instead of a blackout, adjusted sound levels and an interval halfway through the film for a comfort break.
Everyman CEO Crispin Lilly said the company was thrilled to partner with ECL to help celebrate the day.
We love taking Everyman’s unique cinema experience to as many customers as we can, expanding our audience as widely as possible. Working together with ECL has been particularly gratifying and the initiative has been so well received by the customers.
There were smiles all around as the customers left the screening.
One customer, who attends the ECL Chelmsford - Ravensbourne Day Centre four days a week, said the movie was “the best ever” and loved being able to watch it with her friends. She had never been to the cinema before and was rapt that there was finally opportunity to go.
